The problem

International students juggle 20+ hours of work a week against a full course load, LMS deadlines and visa work-hour limits. Existing calendar and LMS tools each track one world and never warn before a conflict.

My role and constraints

I led the UX process: research goals, competitive analysis, personas, flows, wireframes, usability metrics and a hi-fi prototype, documented in a technical requirements document.

Process

Comparative analysis showed the gap: manual entry, visual-only conflict detection and no work-hour context. I mapped onboarding, task add, edit and delete, calendar and settings flows, with annotated wireframes for each screen.

Comparative analysis

  • Calendar apps

    Manual entry, visual-only conflicts

Google and Apple Calendar never warn before a clash.

  • LMS

    Academic only, email alerts

Moodle tracks coursework and nothing else.

  • Acminder

    One schedule that warns early

Automated sync, proactive alerts, high-priority voice nudges and visa work-hour tracking.

The solution

A unified dashboard that merges academic, work and personal schedules, detects conflicts and nudges before problems happen.

What I learned

Because the persona’s constraints were hard requirements, every screen decision had a reason. Research is the argument every pixel has to answer to.
